Greats as GUESTS
Dinner Parties of the Month |

On THE FIRST FRIDAY NIGHT each month, you are invited to share some of the talk as Barb and I throw a dinner Party. Three unlikely “guests” show up from all who’ve ever drawn breath. Faintly we're reaching for a Parisian salon of the 1800's, where assorted persons pleased and educated each other. We simply make a stab at answering the eternal 'What If' questions... Archived in: ![]() Hey, Barbara and I greet you warmly.
If you've stopped by this blog for the last several months, you're probably fed-up with our pitiful excuses for not hosting and reporting on our dinner parties. Thing is, we have writer's (blogger's) block. We waver between sloth and production, between procrastinating and liking to integrate aspects of our 'guests.' All in all too [full disclosure], we haven't had many visitors. Some chums stopped by now and then, but it looks like this will be another case of a blog begun in earnest and terminated in burnout or regret. So we're open to rejoining the blogosphere in some other form -- possibly where posts are more frequent and shorter (which is what our daughter told us to do from the outset). Should you have any counsel to offer on this project, it'd be great if you could please leave us a Comment. Much obliged. ___ And should you be new to this site, you can find accounts of past parties in our Archives: November, 2007 with basketball's Michael Jordan, history's Margaret MacMillan, and idlers' Tom Hodgkinson; December with www's Tim Berners-Lee, transistors' Jack Kilby, and TV's Lisa Kudrow; January, 2008 with China's President Hu Jintao, painting's Lucian Freud, and biology's Elizabeth Lloyd; February with Joan of Arc, Rev. Billy Graham, and Live Aid & Live 8's Bob Geldof; March with Hollywood's James Dean, racing's Danica Patrick, and bowling & Microsoft's Chris Peters. Other greats, our grandkids, were visiting us on April's First Friday, so no celebrity came knocking. May with three music-makers: country singer Kenny Chesney, composer Anna Amalia, and classic baritone Dieter Fischer-Diskau. June, with baseball's Jackie Robinson, Nobel Prize's Muhammad Yunus, and international cooking's Perween Warsi. |
